Crafting the Heart of the Home on The Block
In last week’s Dining Room Reveal episode of The Block, Wood-Mizer was proud to be part of the story behind the dining furniture that became the centrepieces of two contestants’ homes.
The journey began with timber milled on a Wood-Mizer portable mill – machines renowned for recovering more usable timber from every log with precision, efficiency, and less waste. By unlocking the full value of salvaged and reclaimed timber, Wood-Mizer mills enable the transformation of logs that might otherwise be discarded into consistent, high-quality slabs, ready for craftsmanship. This makes them the perfect choice for companies like The Wood Project – and even shows like The Block – where sustainability and storytelling go hand in hand.

Britt & Taz’s dining table and bench were made from Liquid Amber, with The Wood Project supplying the slabs. Master craftsman Christian Cole then brought the timber to life, shaping it into a timeless dining set that beautifully combined form and function.

Han & Can’s dining table was crafted entirely by The Wood Project from salvaged Mountain Ash, with Christian Cole designing the legs. This remarkable piece shows how timber, given a second life, can become the true heart of a room.
From salvaged Mountain Ash to Liquid Amber, the common thread is how Wood-Mizer machinery makes it possible to recover, prepare, and celebrate timber that tells a story. More than just furniture, these pieces highlight sustainability, craftsmanship, and the value of turning local resources into something unforgettable.
